Postdoctoral Follow Position at the High-Pressure Laboratory of Peking University, China
The research group led by Professor Xi Liu at the High-Pressure Laboratory of Peking University invites applications for a postdoctoral research position. The group conducts experimental studies on minerals, rocks and other planetary materials at extreme P-T conditions. The ideal candidate should have obtained a PhD in Earth science, physics, chemistry, or related field. The expected experimental skills of the candidate are operating and maintaining piston-cylinder apparatus/cubic press, extensive experience in laser-heated diamond-anvil cell, or synchrotron radiation. Extensive knowledge of the Earth's deep interior is also highly desirable.
The High-Pressure Laboratory of Peking University is growing, and includes one end-loaded piston-cylinder press, one non-end-loaded piston-cylinder press, one cubic press and some symmetric diamond-anvil cells; for more information, please visit http://sess.pku.edu.cn/organization/gwgy//EN/indexEn.html. The available analytical facilities include an electron microprobe, scanning electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, FTIR, powder/single-crystal X-ray diffraction, etc. The initial appointment will be for two years, with the possibility of an one-year renewal. Review of applications will begin in July 2011 and remain open until the position is filled. The start date can vary, but preferably in Oct 2011.
