This program is designed with the goal to train high-caliber geochemists who are developed morally, intellectually and physically, equip them with solid basic theories and professional skills in geochemistry, keep them informed about its frontier fields and development directions, and cultivate them to be able to conduct scientific research in its basic theories and applied fields, and assume teaching, related technical and managerial positions in colleges and universities. Its research subjects include: Experimental Geochemistry, Isotope Geochemistry, Geochemistry of Ore Deposit, Petrogeochemistry, Organic Geochemistry and Geochemical Kinetics. Isotope Geochemistry is the study of the distribution of stable and unstable isotopes in geologic body and Earth environment, and the elucidation of the reasons and mechanisms of variations in natural isotope composition. Particular emphasis is placed on the study of the dating of geological and cosmic events, and the trace of various geological processes and global environmental change by employing radiogenic nuclides, cosmogenic nuclides and stable isotopes. Its objectives are to use geochemical theories, methodologies and means to study the human living environment and the application of Geochemistry in sub-disciplines of Geology, covering distribution of elements on the Earth's surface and human health, geochemical interactions and processes of organic molecules and organisms, element's geochemical cycle and global change, biogeochemical interaction, genesis of Ore Deposit and its geochemical exploration indicators, and geochemical methods of tectonic setting research.
