Geological excursion in the western Alps

Introduction:
This geological excursion covers the classic geology of the WESTERN ALPS between French and Italian, including several paleogeographic and tectonic zones, such as the Dauphino-Helvetic zone, the Alpine front zone, Chenaillet ophiolites, inner crystalline massif of Dora Maira, and Alpine UHP metamorphism. The geological excursion represents a greatly expanded and updated version of the collisional orogen in text.
